Adi Parvam !! Cries of Bhima !!

Jai Sriman Narayana !!

Rishi Vaishampayana continued ‘The powerful Bhima preceded journey through the dense woods, carrying his brothers and Mother on his arms and shoulder, huge trees and its roots were crushed under the velocity of his feet, his swift movements created airstream of monsoon season.  Huge trees and its branches paved way for his fast movement; he destroyed the gigantic trees and its flowers and fruits, shrubs on his way and paced through that dense forest like an untamed elephant.

Bhima’s pace was equivalent to the King of Birds Garuda and Lord Vayu/Maruth, thus the Pandavas felt unconscious for a few moments, they have crossed cavernous streams and concealed their original forms due to the fear of the sons of Dhrutharashtra.  Bhima continued to carry his mother on his shoulder and crossed hazardous and uneven river banks.  Oh! Warrior of Bharatha dynasty, during the hours of sunset Bhima carried his brothers and mother on his arms and shoulder, preceded journey through the dense forest and arrived at a place where fruits and vegetables are in abundant and water to quench their thirst.  There were lot of birds and wild animals were making deafening frightful noises out of panic, it continued and very much increased after the sunset, the darkness swallowed the entire forest and nothing was visible.  An untimely storm destroyed the trees and shrubs along with its flowers and fruits, fallen on the ground with a loud noises.  Pandavas were extremely tired of hunger and thirst, lack of sleep etc….they were struggled to keep their pace, they remained tired of hunger and lack of food and water to quench their thirst.  Kunthi was desperately murmured “I am the mother of Pancha Pandavas, I am in the middle of my children still I am totally exhausted and desperate due to thirst.”  Her distressed cries made Bhima uneasy.   He decided to continue their journey, they moved through the dense woods where there were no living creatures, he crossed swiftly through the wild wood and found a place where there was a huge banyan tree positioned, he dropped his brothers and mother under the tree and spoke “All of you relax here for while, I can listen to the sounds of water birds, I think there must be pond located nearby, I will go and search for water.’  After obtaining permission from Yudhishtira, Bhima swiftly moved through the way where noises of the water birds heard.  Oh! Great Warrior of Bharatha dynasty, soon Bhima arrived in a place of water source, he took ablutions and satiated his thirst.  He dipped upper clothes in water and collected water for his brothers, shortly he returned to the place where his brothers and mother was settled.  He was inconsolable and miserable at the pathetic state of his mother, took a deep breath like a serpent; it was intolerable for him to witness his mother and brothers all tired of hunger and thirst, sleeping on the ground.  Vrukodhara was mentally shattered and cried loudly “  I have made some severe sin that’s why I have to witness my brothers and mother sleeping on the ground, it was indeed our bad luck  prevented us to sleep on the luxurious beds in Varanavarth. Oh! Kunthi, the loveliest woman like lotus petal! Oh! Sister of Vasudeva who is the great warrior and destroyer of enemies! Oh! Kunthi, who have possessed divine marks and daughter of King Kunthi Bhoja, daughter – in – law of King Vichithraveerya and the wife of glorious King Pandu, Mother of Pancha Pandavas!  Oh! Kunthi you are deserved to be in a classy and comfort bed, there will be no painful situation other than watching you sleeping on the ground. Oh! Mother, who had attained children from the deities Lord Dharma, Lord Indra and Lord Vayu, used to sleep on the luxurious beds in the palace, now sleeping on the ground due to tired of hunger and thirst. Oh!  It is painful to watch my fearless brothers sleeping on the ground.  Oh! Yudhishtira who has possessed the righteousness to rule the three worlds sleeping on the ground due to weariness like any normal human being, Oh! Arjuna, who has possessed the complexion of clouds and matchless in charisma sleeping on the ground, Oh! Nakul and Sahadeva, who has the resemblance of the deities Ashwini Kumaras in their matchless charisma sleeping on the ground like any ordinary human being, it is appalling to watch them sleeping on the soil.  One who has no relatives of treacherous qualities will live alone happily like a tree standing out of its cluster, will be worshipped by everyone. One who has numerous relatives who possessed the qualities of righteousness and fearlessness will live happily.  People who has possessed virtues, courage, richness and who showers happiness amongst friends and family will live like a huge trees in woods. We have undergone several hardships in our life, we have exiled from our Kingdom and barely escaped from the mouth of death due to the treacherous acts of evil Dhrutharashtra and his son; we have protected ourselves from the wild fire and taking shelter under this tree.  We have been gone through various disasters, where will we go now? Oh! Evil sons of Dhrutharashtra, enjoy your momentary victory, you have blessed with good luck by the deities, Oh! Sinners, you all are alive because Yudhishtra has not yet ordered me to slaughter you all.  Otherwise, I would have send you, yours sons, friends, brothers, Karna and Shakunison of Subhala to the world of Lord Yama. Oh! Sinners, what shall I do? The elder amongst the Pandavas, the righteous ruler Yudhishtira has no enmity towards you” Bhima continued to cry his heart out.

Thus the powerful Bhima was completely devastated; in a rage he was crushing his arms together and released sigh of utter desolation.  Bhima/ Vrukodhara were helplessly watched over his brothers sleeping like any ordinary human being on the ground.   He guessed that there must be some city nearby the dense woods, he decided keep himself awake and protect his brothers and mother who were fast asleep, safely kept the wet clothes he has brought for them to quench their thirst.  Thus Bhima was wide awake, settled near his brothers and mother who were fast asleep.

Adi Parvam !! Grief of Yudhishtira !!

Jai Sriman Narayana !!

Rishi Vaishampayana continued “A massive crowd of People of Varanavarth assembled in search of sons of Pandu, witnessed the gigantic fire in the Palace, shortly they realized that the palace was made out of wax and other inflammable materials constructed by Purochan by the command of deceitful plan of Duryodhana, after a long struggle to put off the fire they found that Purochan and his family was killed in the fire accident.  The people of Varanavarth echoed that it was the plan of wicked Duryodhana to kill the sons of Pandu,  it must be a wisely conceived plan of Duryodhana and Dhrutharashtra to kill the Pandavas, or Dhrutharashtra must have opposed the treacherous plan of his son.  They also suspected that the Bhishmacharya son of King Shanthanu, Dronacharya, Vidura, Krupacharya and other responsible members of the Kouravas were failed to perform their responsibilities.  Ultimately the people of Varanavarth decided to convey a message to King Dhrutharashtra commenting ‘Your irrepressible desire has come true! You have burnt Pandavas to death!’.

Later, it was decided to conduct rigorous search for the bodies of Pandavas.  They found the mortals of Nishadha woman and her five children.  The man who was appointed for the construction of tunnel by Vidura furtively removed the ashes from its place and crammed the tunnel with it.  The people of Varanavarth duly conveyed the depressing message about the death of Pandavas and Purochan to Dhrutharashtra.  The King Dhrutharashtra was devastated at the misfortune of Pandavas, he became inconsolable and spoke “It is definite that the memorable brother of mine and King Pandu must have met his death today after listening to the loss of five warriors and their mother in the fire accident.  Oh! Sons, hurry to Varanavarth and perform the final rite for the great warriors, sons of Pandu and daughter of King Kunthibhojan.  Bring the remnants of the mortal in Hasthinapur and perform appropriate rites.  Let the relatives and friends of deceased go to Varanavarth and perform those entire rites for Pandavas and Kunthi immediately.”

Dhrutharashtra, son of Ambika was assembled with relatives and sons, he performed ceremonial bath for the Pandavas.  The people of Hasthinapur were grief-stricken, cried their heart out calling the names of sons of Pandu and Kunthi, ‘ Oh! Yudhishtira, King of Kuru Dynasty’, ‘Oh! Bhima, Oh! Phalguna’,  ‘ Oh! Nakula & Sahadeva’, ‘Oh! Kunthi’.  They took ceremonial bath for the deceased and the entire Hasthinapur wept for the Pandavas.  But, Vidura who was aware of the truth was remained calm.

In the meantime,  Pandavas, the glorious warriors with their mother safely arrived at a place far from Varanavarth situated on the other side of river Ganga, due to the favorable weather conditions and the skill of ferry man.  Immediately, they deserted the ferry went inside the dense forest in the moon light.   Oh! King Janamejaya, ultimately they arrived in the middle of an impassable forest.  They were extremely tired of hunger, thirst and sleeplessness.    Yudhishtira spoke to Bhima “What else could be painful other than this destitution?  We are in the middle of dense forest. We are utterly miserable without the knowledge of routes.  We are unaware about the news of wicked Purochan.  How did we protect ourselves from the sight of others? Oh! Bhima, you are the powerful and fast amongst us, so carry us on your shoulder and precede the journey.  Bhima carried his mother on his shoulder, brothers on his arms and waist after listening to Yudhishtira and continued their journey promptly.

Adi Parvam !! Pandvas arrival on the other side of river Ganga !!

Rishi Vaishampayana continued “In the meantime, Vidura who was highly intellectual and extremely vigilant was aware of the deceitful plan of Duryodhana, send a virtuous and faithful servant to the woodland in search of Pandavas.  He met Pandavas along with their mother in a particular place in the middle of the dense forest, where Pandavas were observing the depth of Ganga.  The man arrived on the banks of Ganga with a fully equipped ferry and informed Pandavas.  The ferry was built with efficient means capable to survive at any circumstances and in any climatic conditions.  The ferry man wanted to reveal his identify as the sincere servant of Vidura appointed by him, ferry man spoke “Oh! Yudhishtira, I was assigned by the scholarly Vidura, he wanted to narrate the following words to you to prove my identity.  Who eat straws/Lord Agni, who melts the snow/Lord Surya cannot burn the creature/mice living in a hollow in the woodland, and whoever has the knowledge of the same will protect themselves from the evils.  Kindly accept me as the sincere servant send by Vidura.  Oh! Son of Kunthi, Vidura wanted to convey a message to you, that you will definitely conquer Karna, Duryodhana and his brothers & his uncle Shakuni in the battle.  This ferry is eagerly waiting for you and will help you to leave this part of area.”   The ferry man took Pandavas and their mother in to his boat; they were extremely depressed at the dreadful happenings.  Ultimately, the ferry crossed the vast ocean of life Ganga and safely arrived on the other side.  The ferry man bade farewell to them by pronouncing ‘Victories to all’ and returned to his place.

The honorable sons of Pandu conveyed their message to Vidura and quickly preceded further deep into the woodlands.

Adi Parvam !! Bhima set fire to the Palace of Wax !!

Jai Sriman Narayana !!

Rishi Vaishampayana narrates “ Purochan was extremely delightful to watch Pandavas living peacefully with no apprehension about the Palace of Wax for an year, in this way Purochana was completely bamboozled by Pandavas.  The righteous Yudhishtira spoke to Bhima, Arjun, Nakula & Sahadeva ’  I think the appropriate time has arrived to get away from this Palace of Wax, devious Purochan was completely duped by us.  We will set fire on the store house of armaments and the living place of Purochan, and at that moment we six people can easily flee from this place without anyone’s knowledge.”

Rishi Vaishampayana continued “ Oh! King Janamejaya, one day night a mass feast was organized by Kunthi and fed number of Brahmins and their families.  It was a grand occasion; many families and women were arrived and took great pleasure in that grand feast, eventually returned to their homes.  It was the absolute game of fate; one Nishadha/hunter woman who was travelling with her five children arrived to attend the feast, they very much enjoyed the feast and lost their conscious due to the excessive consumption of intoxicated drinks.  Eventually, Nishadha woman and her five children were drifted to sound sleep.  In those dark hours, a tumultuous storm broke out while people inside the palace were fast asleep.  Bhima set fire to the house where Purochana was living with his family, then the grand doors of the palace and various places of the Palace was caught in huge fire.  The valorous sons of Pandu, destroyer of enemies watched the mammoth sized fire engulfed the Palace and heaved a sigh of relief.   In no time, they entered in the mouth of the tunnel to find their ways out.  The people of Varanavarth got out from their sound sleep witnessing the giant fire gulping down the Palace of Wax.  They were sunk into deep grief and spoke “It was the disruptive plan of Purochan at the instruction of his evil master Duryodhana, he constructed a palace of wax with an depraved intention to kill the relatives of Duryodhana.  It’s shameful to watch the selfish and merciless act of Dhrutharashtra, he always treated sinless sons of Pandu as his enemy and burnt them into ashes.   It’s painful to watch the righteous and sinless sons of Pandu die in the gigantic fire; it was the fate that killed the callous Purochan too.”

Rishi Vaishampayana narrates “  The people of Varanavarth were inconsolable, sunk into unfathomable sorrow at the untoward happenings to Pandavas.  They cried their out heart out watching the colossal fire.  In the meantime, Pandavas safely got out of the tunnel with their mother Kunthi and disappeared into the woodlands.  They were tired of sleeplessness and extreme fright could not keep a good pace of their journey.  At this moment, Bhima took all his brothers and mother on his shoulder and flee to the woods.  Vrukodhar/Bhima who has powerful arms, carried his mother on his shoulder, two younger brothers Nakula and Sahadeva on his waist, Arjun and Yudhishtira on his arms and moved like a wind through the woods, on his way he thrashed down the huge trees with his chest and embossed foot print created hollow on the Earth.

Adi Parvam !! Construction of tunnel inside the Palace of Wax !!

Jai Sriman Narayana !!

Rishi Vaishampayana continued “ Oh! King Janamejaya, one of the experts in the construction of passageways and friend of Vidura approached Pandavas in loneliness and spoke “I am experienced in the construction of tunnels was send by Vidura.  I would like to offer my sincere service to you.  Kindly educate me what I should  do?  Vidura has intense faith in me, it was one of the reasons he instructed me to help Pandavas and assist Yudhishtira in the construction of passageway.  It was preplanned by Purochan to set fire on the entrance of this palace in the dark hours of Amavasya on a Chathurthi day.   This deceitful plot was conceived by sinful Duryodhana, son of Drutharashtra to kill Pandavas along with their mother Kunthi.  Oh! son of Pandu, I have understood that Vidura spoke about the treacherous plan in an outcaste language/mlecha and you have answered him in the same slang.  I have mentioned the above words with a sincere intention to obtain your trust.”

The righteous Yudhishtira, son of Kunthi who always speaks the truth started to pronounce after listening to Kankan, “Oh! Virtuous one, I know you as an affectionate and trustworthy friend of Vidura,  I know you are faithful to Vidura who is aware of all that happenings.  You will be treated as close associate of us now onwards and serve us in the same manner as you do to Vidura, never differentiate us from Vidura.  We will treat you in the same way as we do to Vidura and protect us from the evils like Vidura.  This palace was constructed by Purochan at the evil command of Duryodhana, who is having all those wealth and evil associates to haunt us.  Kindly provide us your sincere assistance and protect us from the death in the wildfire, the wicked plan of Duryodhana should not be successful.  This palace was constructed close to his stockroom of armaments and ammunition; it has huge walls with no escape route.  Vidura was well aware of the treacherous plans of Duryodhana from its beginning and duly informed us.  Kshathri/Vidura has given plentiful instructions and information about the same and warned us.  You should work without the knowledge of Purochan who is vigilant and cautiously waiting at the entrance of this palace.”  Kankan cordially replied “So let it shall be “.  Shortly, a huge tunnel was constructed inside the palace; it has the mouth at the center of the palace that was skillfully covered with the wooden planks which was not possible to recognize easily for Purochan who was always watchful.  Pandavas were vigilant at all times with their armaments, they slept with their weapons.  They travelled through the woodlands and conducted hunting expedition in the day hours.  Oh! King Janamejaya, they pretended that they have absolute faith in Purochan though they least believed in him.  In this way, they lived safely in the Palace of Wax.  None of the people of Varanavarth was aware of the plans of Pandavas.  It was Kankan, who was the faithful associate of Vidura was aware about the proceedings of Pandavas.”

Adi Parvam !! Yudhishtira’s wise plan for the survival !!

Jai Sriman Narayana !!

Rishi Vaishampayana continued “The people of Varanavarth came to know about the arrival of Pandava’s and it brought them in a state of ecstasy.    They all hurried in various convoys to receive the sons of Pandu, they were carried numerous gifts mentioned in the scriptures to offer the sinless sons of Pandu and they showered blessings on them uttering ‘Victory to you all’, they gathered around the sons of Kunthi with utmost admiration.  Yudhistira majestically stood in the middle of those people of Varanavarth like Lord Indra among the deities,  they were all adorned in various precious gems were highly revered by the people of Varanavarth, eventually they entered in the thickly populated city.  They visited the house of Brahmins who were engaged in their duties of teaching Veda & Scriptures, prominent members of the Varanavarth, and the homes of soothars, Vaishya and shudras.  Oh! The bull of Bharatha dynasty, Pandavas assigned Purochan to proceed to the palace constructed for them and they followed him.  At the arrival Purochan served them with meals, drinks, beddings etc..  Pandavas continued to reside in this palace was highly revered by the people of Varanavarth and Purochan, in this way, Pandavas stayed ten days in that palace.  Though the palace was inauspicious place to live in, Purochan repeatedly convinced them that it was one of the divine palaces to settle.  Later, well attired Pandavas with various gems and jewelry entered like Yaksha in to the inner areas of palace with Purochan.  The sinless Yudhishtira keenly observed the entire palace and informed Bhima that it was constructed with easily burning materials, mostly wax added with high quality ghee and fat.  Yudhishtira spoke to Bhima “ Oh! Destroyer of enemies, it is clearly evident that the palace is constructed with easily burning materials.  It was the plan of our enemy to construct the palace with all those dried materials like grass, straw, woods added with pure ghee by a skillful architect.  It was the treacherous place of Duryodhana, we all believed Purochan who is the wicked servant of Duryodhana waiting to burn us into ashes.  Oh! Son of Prutha, the righteous and intelligent Vidura who was always desired for our good has already informed me about the depraved plan of Duryodhana and the wax house.”  Bhima replied “Oh! Brother, if you are aware of this palace was constructed with easily burning materials, in my opinion it is advisable to leave this palace right now and return to our home.”  Yudhistira answered ‘Oh! Bhima, it is wise to be in this palace, we will continue to live here without giving any suspicion to Purochan, we will remain vigilant and cautious, and at the same time we should find an appropriate way to protect us.  Purochan is an evil-doer living in this palace at the instruction of Duryodhana.  How do Bhishmacharya react to the situation after listening to the news of our death in fire accident? Did he get fuming with anger towards Kauravas? There is a possible chance that all the righteous members in our family of Kurus include our grandfather Bhishmacharya may get wrath and react to this incident.  If we move out this palace with the fear of fire accident, there is a risk that Duryodhana who is desired the throne of Hasthinapur has the power and men to follow his evil instructions, he will send his men to search for us and kill.  We have neither power nor men with us, he has possessed the both.  We have no companion or close association, we have no wealth but Duryodhana has all that in his possession. Is not that clear that Duryodhana will try to kill us by using any of the means, either by wealth or power or men?  Therefore, we will bamboozle Purochan and run our days.  We will continue to live in forests and wander on Earth, conduct rigorous hunting expedition that will help us to find out various routes, which will help us to protect from the enemies in times of crisis.  Today, we will secretly construct a tunnel from our chamber.  Thus, we will do all those needed to protect us in a secret manner; we will definitely win over the fire accident.  We will continue to stay here and do our work without the knowledge of Purochan or the people of Varanavarth, no one should know about our existence.”

Adi Parvam !! Vidura’s secret code words to Pandavas !!

Jai Sriman Narayana !!

Rishi Vaishampayana continued “ Pandavas preceded to Varanavarth in an auspicious chariots pulled by fine horses which has the speed of wind.  Before getting into the Chariots, Pandavas reverentially greeted and prostrated before Bhishmacharya, King Dhrutharashtra, Dronacharya, Kripacharya, Vidura and elderly members of Kuru family.  Pandavas affectionately embraced the youngest members of the family, bade farewell to the ministers of assembly and the people of Hasthinapur.   Vidura and elderly members of the Kuru family and the people of Hasthinapur followed the lion like valorous Pandavas for a little distance and returned with heavy heart.  The people of Hasthinapur observed the grief of sons of Pandu while leaving their own land and they screamed in loud voices “The wicked and blind King Dhrutharashtra is failed to pay attention towards the righteousness and impartiality.  The sinless Yudhishtira, valorous Bhima, or Dhanajya/ Arjuna son of Kunthi/Prutha should not have any guilt feelings in future (The people of Hasthinapur had foreseen the great war of Kurushetra).  How could it is possible for the honorable sons of Madhri, Nakula and Sahadeva to react to this situation when Yudhishtira, Bhima and Arjuna keeps silence at this moment? King Dhrutharashtra is jealous of the achievement of these valorous sons of Pandu in their right of their Kingdom.  How did Bhishmacharya remain silent without any grief and keep unnoticed the unfair practises when Pandavas exiled to the sinful land Varanavarth?  The King Vichithraveerya, son of righteous King Shanthanu and King Pandu were ruled this city successfully and took care of its subjects as their children,  but King Pandu attained salvation in the world of deities and King Dhrutharashtra turned self-centered and arrogant towards the sinless sons of Pandu, legal heir to the throne.  Why should we stay in this flourished city?  We will discard our homes and treat that we too exiled from this city and follow Yudhishtira the righteous son of Pandu.”  Yudhishtira listened to the sorrowful words of the people of Hasthinapur, though he was completely devastated at the turn of events, he pacified the people “King is like our father, he is respectable, he is our preceptor and elderly person, we should always follow his instructions without any doubt.  You all are our sincere friends, you have been caring and pouring your good wishes upon us, hence you have pleased us; you have to return to your homes now and sincerely wait for the opportunity to serve us for the betterment at the right time.” after listening to the modest opinion of Yudhishtira, the people of Hasthinapur started to leave, before that they circumambulated and showered blessings on them.  Once the people of Hasthinapura started to leave to their homes, Vidura who is prominent in the Nithi Sastra/impartiality approached Yudhishtira and spoke in the slang of an inferior caste/Mleccha, that was well known to Yudhishtira as well “It is the responsibility of an individual to be cautious and remain well- protected himself against the treacherous plans of the enemies in the regime.  If an individual knows the fact that there are various methods other than the weapons to chop off the body and aware to protect from them, he remains victorious and unaffected by the enemies.  The blaze which swallow the straw and wood, the sun which evaporates the dew drops cannot do harm to the rats or deer sheltered in the hollow of a tree, thus the intelligent ones survive at the time of crisis.  A blind has no knowledge of paths and never bothers to know the same.  A non ambitious individual never prosper in his life.  Keep all that I have mentioned in your memories and protect yourselves.  Your enemies’ evil idea to punish with the non-weapon/wax house should be confronted like a lion which resides in a cavern with various exits to protect it from the hazard; it will help at the time of fire hazard.  An individual attain the knowledge of various routes when he takes up expedition, stars will help to locate the different directions.  Who has perfect control over their senses cannot be defeated by enemy.”   Yudhishtira replied ‘I have understood the truth’ after listening to the inspirational speeches of Vidura.  Later, Vidura followed them for a while and bade farewell and wished them good luck and returned home.   Bhishmacharya, People of Hasthinapur and Vidura stopped following them, then Kunthi spoke “I did not understand anything Kshatri/Vidura has told you, he was not conversing anything but you have replied to him in the same slang.  We did not understand anything, if it’s harmless to know I would like to hear about the conversation.”  Yudhishtira answered “ The righteous Vidura warned me about the wax palace constructed for us which is easily burn into ashes, also instructed me to learn the ways to protect from the danger and advised that who has perfect control over senses would always be successful.  I replied to Vidura that I have understood all that said.”

Rishi Vaishampayana spoke “ Pandavas arrived at Varanavarth and met the people of the city on the eighth day with the star Rohini in the month Phalgun.”

Rishi Vaishampayana narrates “ Oh! Bharatha, the wicked Duryodhana was extremely satisfied to hear the instruction of King Dhrutharashtra to send Pandavas to Varanavarth.  Oh! Powerful bull of the Bharatha Dynasty, later Duryodhana invited Purochan, his advisor in isolation, held his hands firmly and spoke ‘Oh! Purochan, the entire flourished land of  Kuru Kingdom is mine and you have equal rights on this.  Thus, it is your responsibility to protect the same; I have no trustworthy and devoted advisor like you. Therefore, the respected one, I want your guidance and support to vanquish my enemies with your intelligence.  Follow my instructions carefully, King Dhrutharashtra has sent the Pandavas to Varanavarth, according to the instructions of the King, they will delightfully spend their time in the festivals going to be held in Varanavarth.  You should reach quickly in Varanavarth before Pandavas arrives and construct a marvelous palace close to the place where the weapons and armaments are stored.  The palace should be well decorated with precious gems and classy materials.  You should utilize sands, ghee, rusted clothes and straws, flesh and flood, wood and large quantity of wax for covering its walls, construct a spectacular palace which should not be recognizable to Pandavas or anyone that it is easily destructible by fire.   Further, receive Kunthi with her sons and relatives to the palace with all the honors.  King Dhrutharashtra should not raise any complaints about the arrangements have been made in Varanavarth.  Provide them with the most luxurious furniture and fixtures and vehicles, none of the people of Varanavath should know about our plans.   Later, wisely execute our plan, set fire on the main entrance to the palace when the Pandavas are in deep sleep and ascertain that Pandavas are killed in this fire hazard.  The people of Varanavarth should speak that the Pandavas died of fire accident in the palace.’  Purochan amicably replied ‘Let it shall be ‘after listening to Duryodhana and hurried in his chariot to Varanavath.  Within in a short period of time, Purochan arrived in Varanavarth and skillfully performed his duties as instructed by Duryodhana. “

Adi Parvam !! Pandava’s decision to leave to Varanavarth !!

Jai Sriman Narayana !!

Rishi Vaishampayana continued “  Duryodhana and Dusshana tried all their tricks to manipulate the people of Hasthinapur by offering wealth and status, in this way they attracted numerous number of people to stand aside them.  King Drutharashtra persuaded the intelligent members of the assembly to narrate the beauty of the city Varanavarth before the Assembly Hall; they highly spoke about the grand festival of Lord Pasupathi in Varanavarth.  They very well described the grand festival of Lord Pasupathinath which attracts huge crowd was treated as one of the most famous festivals in the world.  This marvelous description about the city Varanavarth attracted the hearts of Pandavas too; they eagerly wished to visit this marvelous place.  Drutharashtra closely observed the state of mind of Pandavas and understood that they are ready to leave to Varanavarth.”

Drutharashtra addressed to Pandavas “The ministers of Assembly always praise the beauty of Varanavarth as the most enthralling place to live on Earth.  My dear children, if you really wish to visit this place and witness the festival, you can go with your friends and family to have pleasurable time like deities.  Offer abundance of wealth, pearls and gems as alms to the Brahmins and artists of this place.  You can live like deities in Varanavarth as long as you wish and return to Hasthinapur.”

Rishi Vaishampayana continued “ Yudhishtira was well aware of the selfish motive of Drutharashtra, moreover he was known about their helplessness and agreed to leave Hasthinapur.  Shortly, all the members of the family such as Bhishma, Vidur, Drona, Balhyaka, Kouravas, Somadatta, Krupacharya, Ashwathama, Purisravass, Ministers of the assembly, scholarly Brahmins, priests and people of Hasthinapur and Gandhari assembled to bid farewell to Pandavas.”

Yudhishtira solemnly addressed the families and people of Hasthinapur “we are leaving to Varanavarth with all our trusted people and family according to the instruction of King Drutharashtra, seeking all your blessings to attain prosperity and remain blameless in all our life.”  The people assembled blessed Pandavas “Oh ! Sons of Pandu, the five elements of Earth such as Air, Ether, Wind, Fire and Water will protect you always and will remain virtuous forever.”  They preceded their journey to the city of Varanavarth after performing some initial rite.

Adi Parvam !! Duryodhana’s plan to exile Pandavas to Varanavarth !!

Jai Sriman Narayana !!

Rishi Vaishampayana continued, King Drutharashtra was in a quandary after listening to the wicked plans of Duryodhana and shrewd strategies of Kanika, he was not in a position to think or act wisely, he was in a state of utter grief, it was the time King Subhala’s son Shakuni, Duryodhana, Karna and Dusshasana cleverly developed their tactics.  Duryodhana addressed to his father “ Oh! Dearest father, make the most of an intelligent plan to send the Pandavas to a secluded city named Varanavarth, after that we need not worry about them.”  King Drutharashtra immersed in a serious thought for a while and continued “   Pandu was always devoted his life for the righteous deeds, he was remained responsible towards his families and relatives always, especially to me.  He was not given any importance to worldly matters, eventually gave away the Kingdom of Hasthinapur to me.  His son is also following the footsteps of his father, devoting his life for the righteous deeds; he has attained abundance of fame in a short span of time with the virtuous act amongst the subjects of Hasthinapur and the neighboring cities.  How it would be possible to get rid of Yudhishtira who is the legal heir to the throne of Hasthinpur from his own Kingdom?  The ministers of the assembly, warriors of Hasthinapur and their families were well taken care by Pandu, subjects of Hasthinapur were attained highest of prosperities and happiness during his regime will definitely stand for Yudhishtira, won’t they accept our families and friends?”

Duryodhana replied “ Oh ! Dearest Father, I am totally agreed with the facts you have mentioned.  We have to think of the troubles imposed upon us and have to take care of our future prosperity and act wisely right now.   We have to offer abundance of affluences and high status to the people of Hasthinapur and manipulate them to stand with us; fortunately we have the complete possession of the wealth of Hasthinapur and the ministers as well.  So, you have to introduce a wise plan and send the Pandavas to Varanavarth.   Oh ! King,  Kunthi and her sons can return to Hasthinapur after my crowning ceremony as the King of Hasthinapur. “

King Drutharashtra said “ Duryodhana, I was thinking of the same in my heart, but I know it’s an immoral act, so I refused to disclose it.   I am quite sure that Bhishmacharya, Dronacharya, Kripacharya and Vidura will not support the very idea of exile Pandavas from Hasthinapur, they all are righteous and intellectuals always treat Pandavas and Kauravas are equal.  If we act treacherously, don’t we get killed by the entire Kuru race or illustrious men like Bhishma, Drona, Kripa and Vidura and the people of Hasthinapur?”

Duryodhana answered “Oh ! King, Bhishmacharya has no boundless affection towards Pandavas or Kauravas.  If any problem arises, he will not take any sides.  I have the excellent support of Ashwathama, son of Drona and its obvious and certain that his father takes the side of his son always.   Kripa, Son of Sage Sharadhwad will support Drona and his son Ashwathama, he cannot stand against his brother-in-law and his son.  Though Kshatri/Vidura secretly stands by the side of Pandava always, he count on us for his livelihood and he cannot do much damage to us as a single person.  So, don’t think of anything or hesitate to order Pandavas to exile to Varanavarth and take an immediate action to leave them this country right now.  Oh! Dearest father, you will put off my ongoing rage towards Pandavas by this act and my grief as well, which was stealing my sleep and piercing my heart like sharp arrows.”

Rishi Vaishampayana narrates to King Janamejaya “ Subhala’s son Shakuni maternal uncle of Duryodhana along with Duryodhana, Dusshasana and Karna created numerous devious plan against Pandavas.  They obtained permission from King Drutharashtra to take away the life Kunthi and her five sons’ by burn them into ashes.  Vidura, who is righteous and intelligent, has great admiration towards the children of Pandu and capable to read the minds of others realized the malicious plans of Kauravas.  Vidura was highly thoughtful about the righteous children of Pandu, decided to protect Kunthi and her sons from the malevolent plans of Kauravas.’

Vidura has a sturdy ferryboat which has the capacity to withstand any vital changes in the sea and provided to Kunthi and spoke “Oh ! Virtuous Kunthi, listen to me carefully, King Drutharashtra mislaid all his righteousness and glories of Kurus, decided to annihilate entire clan of Kurus.  He is going of leave all his moralities permanently due to his horrid soul.  I have kept a sturdy boat prepared on the sea shore which is capable to protect you and your sons from the death trap at any repugnant circumstance.”

Rishi Vaishampayana continued “ Oh! Janamejaya, Righteous amongst Kurus, Kunthi was miserable after listening to the deceitful plan of Kauravas.  She and her sons settled on the boat and proceeded to river Ganga, shortly they abandoned the boat and moved to the dense forest with the wealth they had acquired in Varanavarth.  At this point of time, a hunter woman with her five children entered in the Wax Palace constructed for the Pandavas, she had to stay in this palace constructed with nasty materials such as blood, flesh of human & animals and filthy clothes.  She was burned to death with her children and the sinful Purochan who was constructed the Wax Palace at the instruction of Shakuni & Duryodhana was also killed in this incident.  Kauravas lived under misapprehension that Pandavas killed in the fire broke out in Varanavarth, but Vidura solicitously protected Pandavas from the malevolence.  The people of Varanavarth was unaware of the safe exit of Pandavas, they deeply mourned at the death of Pandavas.  They appropriately informed and conveyed their condolences at the sad demise of Pandavas to King Drutharashtra. ”  The people of Varanavarth spoke to King Drutharashtra “ Oh ! King of Kurus, You have successfully accomplished your mission and desires as well; ultimately you have burnt the Pandavas into death.  You can rule your Kingdom and live happily with your children.”

King Drutharashtra and his sons pretended to be mourning at the death of Pandavas, they deviously acted that they are disappointed at the fate of Pandavas and joined with Bhishmacharya, Vidura and the relatives of royal family for the performance of final rite of the deceased souls.

King Janamejaya replied “ Oh! Greatest among the Brahmin, I would like to hear more about the tragic incident happened in the wax palace at Varanavarth and how Pandavas escaped from it.  The treacherous act of Kauravas after listening to Kanika’s mischievous advice was horrible. I am extremely anxious to know about the atrocious act of Kauravas.”

Rishi Vaishampayana continued “Oh! Destroyer of enemies, listen to me carefully I will explain the hideous incident happened at Varanavarth and the survival of Pandavas in detail.   Duryodhana was concerned and fidgety at the valor of  Bhima/Vrukodhar grown into most powerful warrior and Arjuna outshined in the science of armaments and usage of weapons.  Karna, Son of Surya and Shakuni brought innumerable devious plan to kill Pandavas.  But Panavas effortlessly conquered each of their plans and remained insuperable and cautious at the guidance of Vidura.  Oh! Bharatha,   the people of Hasthinapur highly praised the valor of sons of Pandu after witnessing their astonishing skills.   The people assembled in the Palace and different places affirmed that Yudhishtira, the eldest son of Pandu is capable in ruling Hasthinapur.  Though Dhrutharashtra is highly intelligent, he is incapable to rule the city as he was born blind, so it’s out of question for him to rule the country.  Bhishmacharya,  the righteous Son of Shanthanu who has attained innumerable pieties has discarded his rights to be the heir to the throne of Hasthinapur.  So they decided to choose Yudhishtira, son of Pandu legal heir to the throne of Hasthinapur who has profound knowledge in Veda Sastra, honorable and compassionate as their King,  Yudhishtira who sincerely follows the guidance of righteous Bhishmacharya and Vidura who has scholastic skill in the affairs of the Kingdom will be the appropriate ruler,  he has great admiration towards his ancestors and has the ability to keep his subjects happy and prosperous.  Duryodhana happened to hear the public opinions about Yudhishtra, eventually it supplemented the fire of covetousness against them, and he was powerless to speak against the subjects of Hasthinapur.  It raised the avariciousness in Duryodhana, immediately he met his father Drutharashtra who was in solitude, he prostrated before him and narrated what he had heard from the subjects of Hasthinapur praising Yudhishtira.  Duryodhana fiercely spoke about the decision of the subjects of Hasthinapur to choose Yudhishtira as King and inability of his father to be the heir to the throne due to his blindness and righteous Bhishmacharya’s vow to discard the rights.  He blamed the entire people of Hasthinapur has abhorrence towards them.  He expressed extreme anxiety about if Yudhishtira was appointed as heir to throne; he and his children will lose the right to rule the Kingdom permanently, he worried that his family will lose their royal identity and respect forever, moreover it will lead them in a pathetic state, they have to seek the help of Pandavas for running their life.   He gave a selfish opinion to his father that one way or another they have attained the crown due to unforeseen happenings in the family, it is advisable to keep the right of ruling the Kingdom with them forever without paying much attention to the people of Hasthinapur.”
