Jai Sriman Narayana !!
Rishi Vaishampayana narrates to
King Janamejaya “ Subhala’s son Shakuni maternal uncle of Duryodhana along with
Duryodhana, Dusshasana and Karna created numerous devious plan against
Pandavas. They obtained permission from
King Drutharashtra to take away the life Kunthi and her five sons’ by burn them
into ashes. Vidura, who is righteous and
intelligent, has great admiration towards the children of Pandu and capable to
read the minds of others realized the malicious plans of Kauravas. Vidura was highly thoughtful about the
righteous children of Pandu, decided to protect Kunthi and her sons from the malevolent
plans of Kauravas.’
Vidura has a sturdy ferryboat
which has the capacity to withstand any vital changes in the sea and provided
to Kunthi and spoke “Oh ! Virtuous Kunthi, listen to me carefully, King
Drutharashtra mislaid all his righteousness and glories of Kurus, decided to
annihilate entire clan of Kurus. He is
going of leave all his moralities permanently due to his horrid soul. I have kept a sturdy boat prepared on the sea
shore which is capable to protect you and your sons from the death trap at any repugnant
circumstance.”
Rishi Vaishampayana continued “
Oh! Janamejaya, Righteous amongst Kurus, Kunthi was miserable after listening
to the deceitful plan of Kauravas. She
and her sons settled on the boat and proceeded to river Ganga, shortly they
abandoned the boat and moved to the dense forest with the wealth they had
acquired in Varanavarth. At this point
of time, a hunter woman with her five children entered in the Wax Palace
constructed for the Pandavas, she had to stay in this palace constructed with
nasty materials such as blood, flesh of human & animals and filthy
clothes. She was burned to death with
her children and the sinful Purochan who was constructed the Wax Palace at the
instruction of Shakuni & Duryodhana was also killed in this incident. Kauravas lived under misapprehension that Pandavas
killed in the fire broke out in Varanavarth, but Vidura solicitously protected
Pandavas from the malevolence. The
people of Varanavarth was unaware of the safe exit of Pandavas, they deeply
mourned at the death of Pandavas. They
appropriately informed and conveyed their condolences at the sad demise of
Pandavas to King Drutharashtra. ” The
people of Varanavarth spoke to King Drutharashtra “ Oh ! King of Kurus, You
have successfully accomplished your mission and desires as well; ultimately you
have burnt the Pandavas into death. You
can rule your Kingdom and live happily with your children.”
King Drutharashtra and his sons
pretended to be mourning at the death of Pandavas, they deviously acted that
they are disappointed at the fate of Pandavas and joined with Bhishmacharya,
Vidura and the relatives of royal family for the performance of final rite of
the deceased souls.
King Janamejaya replied “ Oh!
Greatest among the Brahmin, I would like to hear more about the tragic incident
happened in the wax palace at Varanavarth and how Pandavas escaped from
it. The treacherous act of Kauravas
after listening to Kanika’s mischievous advice was horrible. I am extremely
anxious to know about the atrocious act of Kauravas.”
Rishi Vaishampayana continued “Oh!
Destroyer of enemies, listen to me carefully I will explain the hideous
incident happened at Varanavarth and the survival of Pandavas in detail. Duryodhana was concerned and fidgety at the
valor of Bhima/Vrukodhar grown into most
powerful warrior and Arjuna outshined in the science of armaments and usage of
weapons. Karna, Son of Surya and Shakuni
brought innumerable devious plan to kill Pandavas. But Panavas effortlessly conquered each of
their plans and remained insuperable and cautious at the guidance of
Vidura. Oh! Bharatha, the people of Hasthinapur highly praised the valor of sons of Pandu after witnessing
their astonishing skills. The people
assembled in the Palace and different places affirmed that Yudhishtira, the
eldest son of Pandu is capable in ruling Hasthinapur. Though Dhrutharashtra is highly intelligent,
he is incapable to rule the city as he was born blind, so it’s out of question
for him to rule the country.
Bhishmacharya, the righteous Son
of Shanthanu who has attained innumerable pieties has discarded his rights to
be the heir to the throne of Hasthinapur.
So they decided to choose Yudhishtira, son of Pandu legal heir to the
throne of Hasthinapur who has profound knowledge in Veda Sastra, honorable and
compassionate as their King, Yudhishtira
who sincerely follows the guidance of righteous Bhishmacharya and Vidura who
has scholastic skill in the affairs of the Kingdom will be the appropriate
ruler, he has great admiration towards
his ancestors and has the ability to keep his subjects happy and
prosperous. Duryodhana happened to hear
the public opinions about Yudhishtra, eventually it supplemented the fire of
covetousness against them, and he was powerless to speak against the subjects
of Hasthinapur. It raised the
avariciousness in Duryodhana, immediately he met his father Drutharashtra who
was in solitude, he prostrated before him and narrated what he had heard from
the subjects of Hasthinapur praising Yudhishtira. Duryodhana fiercely spoke about the decision
of the subjects of Hasthinapur to choose Yudhishtira as King and inability of
his father to be the heir to the throne due to his blindness and righteous Bhishmacharya’s
vow to discard the rights. He blamed the
entire people of Hasthinapur has abhorrence towards them. He expressed extreme anxiety about if
Yudhishtira was appointed as heir to throne; he and his children will lose the
right to rule the Kingdom permanently, he worried that his family will lose
their royal identity and respect forever, moreover it will lead them in a
pathetic state, they have to seek the help of Pandavas for running their
life. He gave a selfish opinion to his father that
one way or another they have attained the crown due to unforeseen happenings in
the family, it is advisable to keep the right of ruling the Kingdom with them
forever without paying much attention to the people of Hasthinapur.”
