Jai Sriman Narayana !!
Rishi Vaishampayana narrates the birth of
Pandavas and Kauravas, their names in the order of birth to King Janamejaya.
Rishi Vaishmpayana describes the birth of Pandavas as the incarnation of
deities.
King Pandu went on a hunting expedition to the
south of Himalayas; he witnessed horde of deer grazing merrily on the lush
green land, the chief amongst the herd was extremely captivating, it was
wrapped up in the service of its female partner. King Pandu aimed at the
deer with his sharp golden arrows, instantly both the deer fallen with a thud
on the ground. Alas! It was not deer, it was a sage and his wife in
disguise, they were blissfully enjoying in the company of each other’s in the
serene land. The arrow pierced through the body of sage and his wife,
they cried out loudly from the excruciating pain. Sage Kindhma painfully
stated that man with load of anger or interest in physical attraction would
kill someone on their gratifying moment. King Pandu sorrowfully answered
that the hunters would always treat the animals before them as their enemies
and it’s not a new practice at all. Sage Agastya conducted a grand Yagna,
he chased all the deer in the forest and sacrificed them in the sacrificial
fire to please the deities. Sage Kidhma stated that in the war field, the
warriors always follows the war tactics and observe certain rules to attack
their enemies, just like it was not the right technique to attack an animal
while it was having pleasure time with its partner. King Pandu retorted
that the hunter never check the state of an animal before him. Sage
Kindhma benevolently replied that he was not all worried of the wound the sharp
arrows has created or least anxious about death, it is a vicious kind of act
which cause sin to kill animals while they are having physical
relationship and no righteous person would perform such a sinful
act. The sense of physical attraction is common to all and it is the
precious moment adds admiration to them. Sage Kindhma revealed that he was
having pleasurable moment with his chaste wife, but everything ended in
vain. It was one of most repulsive and dishonorable act form a King of
Purus; this would bring him hellish torture after death. Sage Kindhma
continued that the respectable King Pandu must be aware of the significance and
preciousness of physical attraction between a husband and wife; he should not
have committed a sin which leads him to hell. According to Dharma Sastra
it is the responsibility of a King to punish whoever commits sin, undergoes
illicit acts and work against the prescribed rules in Dharma Sastra. Sage
Kindhma was living a life of austere, lived a peaceful life in the serenity of
the forest. Sage Kindhma declared that he will definitely curse King
Pandu for his dishonorable act; King Pandu will face his death at the time of
gratifying moment with his wife. Sage Kindhma does not wanted to
have physical relation with his wife in the form of a human, so the couple has
assumed the form of deer and they were having blissful time in the company of
each other, but King Pandu was not having the patience to recognize their real
form as Brahmin. Sage Kindhma whispered at his death bed, King Pandu will
not have the sin of Brahmahathya as he was killed deer, but his fate will not
change, he will have death at the time of physical relation with his wife and
his wife will follow him to the other world due to respect and the pain of separation
from her husband. Sage Kindhma cursed King Pandu and
painfully left his mortal coil with his wife.
